Author Guidelines

Submissions to Polymath should be uploaded to the Polymath web site as Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) files. If your submission contains special media or figures that require another file format, please submit your article in Portable Document Format (.pdf) or contact the editor to determine an appropiate file format. Alternatively, authors may also email submissions as .rtf, .doc, .docx, or .pdf files to the editor at

To keep track of submissions, reviews, and revisions, all authors must log on and establish an account with our Open Journal Software site at:

Polymath: An Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences Journal welcomes submissions from any academic field, though preference is given to papers with an interdisciplinary approach or a focus on interdisciplinarity. As such, our formatting guidelines embrace the plurality of each discipline’s style. Authors are asked to make use of the style and formatting typical to their discipline with respect to citations, bibliographic references, footnotes/endnotes, punctuation, and formatting of section and sub-section headers. Authors, however, must be consistent in their usage throughout the paper. Where possible, authors are recommended to include hyperlinks to citations.

Additionally we encourage the submission of other media such as images, audio, and video among others that online publication technology makes possible. Submitting authors should also provide copies of these files with reasonable size constraints for video and sound via e-mail attachment to the editor.

All articles published in Polymath undergo a double-blind peer review process. Referees are asked to judge submissions on the following criteria:

1) takes an interdisciplinary approach OR fits the special issue's theme

2) demonstrates quality reseach, academic rigor, and factual accuracy

3) uses images, audio, and/or multimedia appropriately and effectively (if applicable)

4) written with clarity for an interdisciplinary audience

All submissions will be acknowledged, and the editor will endeavor to provide a response about acceptance as quickly as possible. Papers will be published electronically in PDF format on the journal’s website as they finish the editing and proof-reading process.

Authors are encouraged to contact the editor, Jeff Manuel, by email at with any inquiries regarding suitability of submissions unanswered here.
