Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

The Bulletin accepts articles in English, French, and Arabic.

 

Authors should submit articles in Word documents using 11pt Times New Roman font with single-spacing and spaces between paragraphs, and no indentations. Articles should be flush left, not justified.

Titles and author names should appear at the beginning of the article in 12pt Times New Roman font, bold. Sub-section titles should be italicized.

A short bio of the author should follow the last paragraph, in the body of the text, in italics.

Articles should use endnotes rather than footnotes. Endnotes should also be in 11 pt Times New Roman font.

Photo or image captions should be in italics.

Articles hould follow the guidelines of the Chicago Manual of Style. Arabic transliterations follow the style of the International Journal of Middle East Studies, but without diacritical marks except for` for `ayn and ' for hamza.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF document file format. Text is 11pt. Times New Roman for body and endnote text, with titles and author name 12pt bold.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced, with spaces between paragraphs and NO indents; uses 11pt Times New Roman font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text includes a short author bio, in italics, directly following the article.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review) have been followed.
