Autumn Cockrell-Abdullah

Abstract

This article reflects on the components of culture and art in the symposium and exhibit,  “The Arabs: An American Story”. The project was born out of work done investigating constructions of Arab-American identity utilizing arts-based perspectives. Presented over a six-month period from April 2001 until September 2001, the project was founded on the belief that there is conflict amongst representations of Arabs and Arabic identity in mainstream American society.
